The other day I saw the most amazing thing. While it may not be so astounding to many, for someone who is new to technology (but slowly learning) this was really quite impressive.

I’m talking about touch screen monitors. I’m sure we’ve all experienced them in one form or another – at the ATM, the help desk at the local shopping centre. But now, you can own one yourself! Imagine sitting at your computer and simply touching the screen to get anywhere – no more mouse or keyboard, you could potentially just carry around a screen and power lead! Let’s not think about the technical aspects (did I mention I was new to all this stuff?) like serial connectivity and the standard (ISO 15693) applied to smart cards that can be used at a distance so you can activate your monitor just by being near it – oh, the possibilities! For now, I think I’ll stick to my trusty old desktop and just watch and wait for the new fangled gadgets to become a little cheaper – and easier to use for a novice like me!
